Melun
Lift Type · Romain Oudin · 2024

A geometric sans with retro leanings from Lift Type, split across three subfamilies covering text, semi-display and full display use.
About
Designed by Romain Oudin and released in 2024, Melun comes in three sub-families: Normal in five weights with italics for text setting, High with an elevated x-height suited to semi-display use, and Display offering six weights with more radical letterforms. The family draws on retro geometric references while remaining functional across a range of sizes, and ships with 638 glyphs covering an extensive range of Latin-based languages. Stylistic sets, circled numbers, arrows and pictograms give it added utility for graphic and editorial work.
Classification
Described explicitly as a geometric sans-serif with retro influences; the three subfamilies range from text-weight to semi-display and a more radical display cut, all sharing geometric construction throughout.
