Excellent specimen from Lineto

A faithful digital revival of a 1983 Triumph-Adler daisy wheel typeface, drawn at Stempel by Lothar Kloth and Willy Deege and expanded into a working family by Stephan Müller.

About

Originally commissioned by Triumph-Adler from the Stempel type foundry, the design draws on Aldo Novarese's Eurostile as a formal reference while remaining a distinctly original typewriter face. Stephan Müller's 2008 rendering for Lineto adds a bold weight and italic cuts to the original single-weight design, giving the family practical range for contemporary use. Daisy wheel cartridges carrying the original Excellent font remain in production today, lending the revival an unusual continuity with its physical source.

Classification

Based on a single-weight daisy wheel typewriter font originally drawn for Triumph-Adler in 1983, the design retains fixed-width, monospaced characteristics typical of typewriter typefaces, with stylistic references to Eurostile.
