LL Brauer
Lineto · Pierre Miedinger, Philippe Desarzens, Marco Walser · 1999

A revival of the bespoke branding typeface drawn by Pierre Miedinger for the Zürich Hürlimann brewery, resurrected from ink drawings after the brewery closed in 1997.
About
Originally drawn by Pierre Miedinger, nephew of Helvetica designer Max Miedinger, as the corporate face of Hürlimann brewery, the design appeared on everything from bottle labels to street posters before disappearing when Carlsberg acquired and shuttered the company. Elektrosmog revived it in 1999 for an arts festival on the former brewery site, later extended with additional weights by Philippe Desarzens and Marco Walser across two decades of incremental development. The full family of six weights, from Thin to Extra Bold, was released by Lineto in 2019, accompanied by a bonus set of the brewery's phased-out brand logos.
Classification
Derived from a bespoke brewery branding typeface drawn by Pierre Miedinger, it functions as a display-weight sans with strong headline character and minimal text application.
