LL Champion Sans specimen from Lineto

A sans-serif companion to LL Champion, built from strictly rectilinear, monolinear letterforms drawn from US varsity and wood-type traditions by Weichi He.

About

Where most varsity-style typefaces carry the charm of improvised lettering, Champion Sans applies a rigorous systematic process to the genre: no curves exist anywhere in the glyph set, proportions are fine-tuned rather than intuited, and the three weights within each width are duplexed so text does not reflow on weight change. The family pairs directly with the LL Champion slab serif, sharing proportions and weights across both styles. A Shadow version ships alongside the standard cuts and can be used independently or layered with a colour fill for dimensional effects.

Classification

Champion Sans is the sans-serif counterpart to a slab-serif varsity family, featuring strictly rectilinear, monolinear letterforms without a single curve, owing more to mechanical geometry than optical correction.
