LL Courier Sans
Lineto · James Goggin · 2001

A proportional sans-serif grown from Courier by stripping away the serifs, originating as a student exercise at Ravensbourne in 1994 and refined into a full release in 2001.
About
James Goggin designed the first version during a 'Courier Only' typography exercise, circumventing the brief by removing every serif and correcting the spacing to proportional. The released family is now split into two branches: LL Courier Sans as a fully proportional version and LL Courier Sans Mono, drawn in 2019 to reconnect with the typewriter origins. The Light weight with italic gives it a deliberately understated, almost bureaucratic tone that suits academic and editorial contexts.
Classification
Derived from Courier by removing all serifs, then redrawn as a fully proportional sans-serif; its lineage is typewriter monospace but the released form is proportionally spaced.
