LL Geigy Mono
Lineto · Robert Huber · 2023

Two monospaced weights derived from LL Geigy, carrying the family's eccentric thick-thin contrast into fixed-width territory inspired by pre-Helvetica Swiss graphic design.
About
Designed by Robert Huber and released by Lineto in October 2023, the mono variant extends LL Geigy's playfully extravagant curves and pronounced thick-thin contrast into a fixed-width format — territory where such contrast is almost unheard of. The forced equal width amplifies certain quirks: rounded uppercase forms become more conspicuous when narrowed, while some lowercase letters grow curvier through widening. The result sits at the intersection of mid-century Swiss eccentricity and functional monospaced type, suited to editorial, brand and typographic contexts where a standard code face would be too neutral.
Classification
A monospaced sans-serif with pronounced thick-thin contrast, unusual for the mono genre; derived from LL Geigy, a display-leaning eccentric sans rooted in pre-Helvetica Swiss graphic design.
