LL Lettera Mono
Lineto · Kobi Benezri · 2008

A monospaced grotesque tracing its lineage to a 1968 Olivetti commission for Josef Müller-Brockmann, digitised and extended by Kobi Benezri and thoroughly revised in 2019 after archival research in Ivrea and Zurich.
About
Kobi Benezri's digital re-interpretation began from a single specimen sheet of Müller-Brockmann's typewriter face, itself an adaptation of Akzidenz Grotesk for Olivetti's golf ball machines, where it was produced under the names Candia and Livius in the early 1970s. The first version appeared in 2008 in a Phaidon design anthology before being extended to six weights with matching italics. A thorough overhaul followed archival work at Olivetti's Ivrea offices and Müller-Brockmann's estate in Zurich, resulting in the 2019 reissue published with permission of the designer's estate.
Classification
A monospaced family derived from Josef Müller-Brockmann's typewriter typeface commissioned by Olivetti in 1968, adapted from Akzidenz Grotesk principles for mechanical reproduction. Fits squarely in the mono category owing to its typewriter heritage and fixed-width spacing.
