LL Moderne
Lineto · Robert Huber · 2017

A humanist sans-serif by Robert Huber that draws on the French grotesque tradition of Excoffon and Frutiger, with open counters and vertically-cut stroke endings suited to both text and display.
About
Designed between 2013 and 2017, LL Moderne takes its name as a direct play on Excoffon's Antique Olive while maintaining a clearly contemporary character. Open counters, a high x-height and compact proportions improve legibility at small sizes and on screen, while two additional fat cuts extend its range toward billboards and signage. The tonal graduation across the weight range gives fine control over text grey for setting body copy.
Classification
A humanist sans-serif with vertically-cut stroke endings and high x-height, inspired by Excoffon's Antique Olive and the broader French humanist grotesque tradition.
