About
Developed by Mengelt three decades after the original Haas Unica (1980), the Mono carries the same Swiss neutrality into fixed-pitch settings suited to technical data, captions and code. Four weights with italics are offered, each available in both standard and low caps styles, the latter featuring shortened uppercase letters that lend a sleeker texture at small sizes. An early customised version with extended x-heights was used for the Alphabet Berlin website in 2014, with the public release following in 2019.
Classification
A monospaced companion to the grotesque LL Unica77, derived from the fixed-width construction principles that echo the typeface's Swiss neutrality; retains the proportions and character of the parent grotesque in a fixed-pitch format.
