LL Valentine
Lineto · Stephan Müller · 2002

A careful digital reconstruction of the 'Quadrato' typeface used in the iconic Olivetti Valentine typewriter, adapted by Stephan Müller from a fleamarket specimen and verified against original Olivetti drawings.
About
The 'Quadrato' type style was originally designed by Olivetti's Arturo Rolfo in 1962–63, drawing directly from Aldo Novarese and Alessandro Butti's Mikrogramma. Müller digitised the family from a typed sample found at a Berlin fleamarket, later cross-referencing the original technical drawings supplied by Olivetti's last typeface engineer. Three weights from Light to Bold, each with matching italics, give the family enough range for contemporary use while preserving the mechanical cadence of the source material.
Classification
A digital reconstruction of the 'Quadrato' typeface from the Olivetti Valentine typewriter, itself a monospaced design in the typewriter tradition with a geometric, slab-influenced character drawn from Mikrogramma.
