Hans Eduard Meier's humanist sans-serif, released by Stempel in 1969 and extensively reworked with Linotype for the digital era.

About

Syntax was first released by D. Stempel in 1969 and revised comprehensively by Meier in collaboration with Linotype from 1995 onwards. Its wide uppercase proportions, open construction and two-storey lowercase a and g make it more classically grounded than most sans-serifs of its era. The reworked digital version expanded weights and added Cyrillic support.

Classification

Humanist sans-serif with wide uppercase proportions and non-baseline-parallel terminals. Two-storey a and g link it to older typeface traditions. Digitised by Adobe in 1989; extensively revised by Meier and Linotype from 1995, released 2000.
