About

Trump Mediaeval takes its name from the German typographic term for darkly coloured roman typefaces inspired by Venetian old-style models. Designed by Georg Trump and released in 1954, it has a robust personality and was used in the 1975 Gotteslob Catholic hymnal. Digital versions are available from Linotype and Adobe.

Classification

Old-style serif initially produced by C. E. Weber and Linotype. 'Mediaeval' refers to the German term for dark, roman old-style letterforms — not blackletter. Used for George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels.
