Isola specimen from Luzi Type

A careful remake of Venus Grotesk, the early 20th-century hot-metal grotesque, with Jugendstil-inflected proportions, angled stroke terminals and a full suite of upright, slanted and backslanted styles.

About

Drawn in the tradition of Venus Grotesk, Isola inherits its predecessor's high-waisted capitals and monoline construction while introducing deliberate irregularities that give the face warmth and rhythm. The family spans six weights from Light to Black across three subfamilies: the full Isola with backslanted, upright and slanted cuts; Isola SemiMono; and Isola Mono, making it unusually versatile for coding, editorial and display work. A variable font is included, with axes running from Light to Black and from Backslanted to Slanted.

Classification

Isola is a remake of Venus Grotesk, a classic early 20th-century hot-metal grotesque, featuring the characteristic monoline strokes, high-waisted capitals and angled terminals associated with Jugendstil-era grotesque design.
