On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

serifscotch serifitalic
Termoli specimen from Luzi Type

A Scotch-genre serif drawing on Century Roman, with square serifs, slight contrast and drop terminals across six weights and a variable font axis.

About

Referencing the Scotch type tradition and Century Roman in particular, Termoli takes a contemporary approach with square serifs and drop terminals that give the letterforms a warm, lively quality. Six weights run from Light to Black, each with a matching italic, and the full family is available as individual static fonts or as two variable fonts covering the upright and italic respectively on a Light-to-Black axis. Language support covers Basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement and Latin Extended-A, spanning a broad range of European scripts.

Classification

Termoli is explicitly positioned within the Scotch type genre, drawing on Century Roman as a reference point. Its square serifs, slight contrast and drop terminals align it with 19th-century Scotch Modern revivals rather than strictly transitional or Didone styles.
