Sourced from a copy of Ida Pfeiffer's 'Visit to Iceland and The Scandinavian North' acquired via Facebook Marketplace, Eyja translates the spirited hooks and high contrast of its nineteenth-century source into a two-style digital family. Named after the Icelandic word for 'island', the typeface carries a printerly quality that reflects both its origins and the close reading of Pfeiffer's text that shaped the drawing process. Released in partnership with Counter Forms, it suits book, editorial and literary work where warmth and historical reference matter.
