About
Designed by Kimya Gandhi and first released in 2019, Chikki began as hand-sketched Devanagari drawings that were later digitised and extended to include a matching Latin and, subsequently, Gurmukhi. The defining characteristic is its rejection of conventional curves: rounded shapes are rendered with straight-line approximations and corners are subtly chamfered, producing a crunchy, geometric texture that reads distinctively across all three scripts. Six weights run from Light to Black, with a variable font included in complete packages, making it workable at both display scale and longer text settings.
Classification
Chikki replaces conventional curves with straight lines and clipped corners across Devanagari, Gurmukhi and Latin scripts, giving it a distinctive geometric, angular character suited primarily to display use.
