Kaana
Mota Italic · Kimya Gandhi · 2026

A bold display typeface designed by Kimya Gandhi, built from straight lines, sharp corners and triangular cuts across Devanagari and Latin scripts.
About
Kaana began with Devanagari, with the geometric logic of straight lines, sharp angles and triangular forms later extended into a Latin companion in collaboration with Pranavi Chopra and Rob Keller. Currently at v0.1 with a single Bold weight and 401 characters, the family is planned to grow to six weights with italics. Alongside the letterforms, it includes alternate zigzag aa-matras via OpenType stylistic sets and a growing collection of icons and ornaments.
Classification
Built entirely from straight lines, sharp corners and triangular cuts, Kaana is an ornamental display typeface with a distinctive geometric and angular visual logic applied across both Devanagari and Latin scripts.
