Mota Italic · Rob Keller · 2013

A single-weight ultra-heavy display typeface by Rob Keller, originating as a custom commission for Mota Italic Gallery's first exhibition.
About
Originally designed for the Mota Italic Gallery exhibition 'Capital: Berliner Buchstaben', this one-weight typeface pushes maximum weight to an extreme, described by its designer as going beyond bold, heavy or extra black. Despite its singular style, it packs a substantial OpenType feature set including small caps, fractions, ligatures, case-sensitive forms and stylistic sets, plus 1,073 glyphs covering Latin, Cyrillic and Greek with small caps across all scripts. Typographica named it among the best fonts of 2014.
Classification
A single-weight, maximally heavy display typeface with no italic or condensed variants, designed for maximum visual impact at large sizes. Its extreme weight and rounded, bloated forms place it firmly in the display category.
