Anode specimen from Muirmcneil

A geometric display typeface built from reciprocal inner and outer alphabets designed to layer precisely, creating letters that balance legibility with formal ambiguity.

About

Designed by Natasha Lucas in collaboration with MuirMcNeil, Anode is the third in a quartet of type systems exploring the relationship between positive and negative space in alphabetic forms. The family comprises four versions including two subcomponent sets, all engineered to register exactly when overlaid. Letters function as an interdependent pair of alphabets, each containing and informing the other, making Anode as much a visual system as a typeface.

Classification

Anode is a geometric display typeface built from a systematic investigation into form and counterform, producing layered inner and outer alphabets that are decorative and experimental rather than suited to continuous text.
