A modular geometric type system built from just three geometric shapes, exploring the reciprocal relationship between letterform and counterform across three positive and negative cuts.

About

Designed by Natasha Lucas in collaboration with MuirMcNeil, Diode uses only three geometric modules to construct its alphabet, deliberately playing positive and negative space against each other to produce letters that are structurally incomplete yet legible. The family ships in three versions, one positive and two negative, plus three additional overlay fonts corresponding to each geometric module, enabling colour delineation in layered compositions. The work extends Lucas's earlier research into form and counterform first explored in her Bisect typeface, published by MuirMcNeil in 2018.
