Interact specimen from Muirmcneil

A grid-based bitmap typeface system originally designed by 8vo in 1994, expanded by MuirMcNeil into 23 scaleable faces across four pixel-resolution groups and 12 calibrated weights.

About

Originally conceived by the design collective 8vo for the American Center of Design Journal, Interact takes its optical logic from Wim Crouwel's 1968 'vormgevers' lettering, using horizontal, vertical and 45-degree pixel steps to simulate rounded stroke junctions within a strict bitmap grid. MuirMcNeil expanded the system from a lowercase-only screen face into 23 typefaces across four resolution scales (06, 04, 03 and 02), each proportionally calibrated so bitmap contours align consistently when type sizes follow the system's mathematical hierarchy. Capital letters, punctuation and Western European accented characters have been added to complete the character set.

Classification

Interact is built from a grid-based bitmap system using horizontal, vertical and 45-degree pixel steps to optically round letterforms, making it a display typeface rooted in screen-resolution bitmap construction rather than any conventional serif or sans-serif tradition.
