Developed from Cut, MuirMcNeil's earlier stencil typeface, Stem applies the systematic construction methods of early twentieth-century geometric type to the extreme contrast and vertical axis of late eighteenth-century neoclassical serifs. Stem Thin reduces letterforms to hairline strokes with detached razor-sharp serifs, intended solely for very large display use, while Stem Thick offers enough structural weight to hold at smaller display sizes. The collection spans five weights in both roman and italic, each sharing a rational, reductive approach to letterform assembly.
