NaN Serf
NaN · Daria Cohen, Fadhl Haqq, Léon Hugues, Jean-Baptiste Morizot, Luke Prowse, Florian Runge · 2022

A contemporary old-style serif from NaN spanning four optical sizes and eight weights, with two stylistic variants distinguishing squared and rounded punctuation.
About
Designed across Display, Headline, Text and Micro optical sizes, the family uses perpendicular terminals and open counters to give old-style structure a sharp, vectorial quality that reads cleanly on screen and in print alike. Eight weights per optical size provide broad compositional range, and the addition of italics in version 1.1 completes a thorough typographic system. Two versions — Serf A with stylised squared punctuation and Serf B with traditional rounded forms — give designers a meaningful choice of graphic register within the same skeleton.
Classification
NaN describe it as a present-day old-style serif with orthogonal, perpendicular terminals and open counters — placing it squarely in the humanist old-style tradition but with a deliberate vectorial, geometric sharpness that modernises the genre.
