About

Designed by Ian Party and named after the legendary Amazons of Greek mythology, this typeface draws on the French neoclassical Didot tradition as its structural model. The family spans 180 static styles across Roman, Italic, Contrast and Contrast Italic subfamilies, accompanied by two variable font files offering continuous control over weight, width and contrast. Each style contains 547 glyphs with broad Latin Extended coverage across more than 70 languages.

Classification

Amazonia is explicitly modelled on the Didot archetype, featuring extreme contrast between thick and thin strokes characteristic of French neoclassical didone serifs.
