Neue Television specimen from Nice To Type

A variable display typeface built on a horizontal grid of thin lines, with six axes controlling stroke weight, width and position to produce an expansive range of raster-like visual effects.

About

Characters sit on a visible grid of thin horizontal lines, with strokes that can shift position, change width, collapse to a circle or blend entirely with the grid. Six variable axes govern stem width, stroke weight, stroke width, stroke position, retro stroke and a terminal transition that recalls the original Television typeface. A stripped variant, Neue Television S, removes the grid lines entirely to allow deliberate layering of points and lines.

Classification

Neue Television is built on a horizontal grid of thin lines with variable strokes overlaid, making it a raster or pixel-logic display typeface rather than a conventional sans-serif or any traditional category. Its defining structure is decorative and screen-referencing.
