Clock specimen from Not Your Type

A two-style experimental display typeface by Xiaoyuan Gao, born from a ceramic wall clock and built on intuition rather than typographic convention.

About

Originating from a ceramic wall clock by Margarete Heymann-Loebenstein, Clock began with numerals and arrows before its letterforms followed. The older 'oldgranny' cut preserves the raw, self-taught character of Gao's first typeface, while 'notRegular' is a later revision with a more considered edge. Both styles cover an extensive Latin Extended glyph set spanning over two dozen European languages.

Classification

Clock defies conventional classification; its quirky, intuition-driven letterforms and origin in numerals and arrows before letters place it firmly in the experimental display category rather than any established text type tradition.
