A. ABF Petit
Nouvelle Noire · Philippe Apeloig · 2013

A conceptual display face by Philippe Apeloig, built from rectangles and rounded ovals to evoke the aerial floor plan of a library.
About
Designed for the Association des Bibliothécaires de France corporate identity, the letterforms read simultaneously as typography and as library furniture, worktables, shelves and digital monitors seen from above. The face belongs to a three-part family alongside ABF Silhouette and ABF Linéaire, each evolving with the organisation's annual themes. Its starting theme, 'Demain la bibliothèque', gives the design its core vocabulary of minimal geometric shapes. Won a German Design Award in 2015.
Classification
Letterforms built from rectangles and rounded ovals to suggest architectural floor plans, making this a highly conceptual geometric display face with no conventional typographic subcategory.
