Designed by Jost Hochuli and released in July 2019, Allegra takes its capital counter shapes from first and early second century AD Roman monumental inscriptions, while the lowercase derives from the skeleton proportions of early Roman types from the first half of the 16th century. Three of its seven weights, Regular, Book and Medium, are deliberately close in colour, giving typographers fine control over text density within a single family. The range suits editorial work and large-scale signage systems equally well.
