Designed by starting with the italic rather than the roman, Rekja carries a warmth and dynamism into its upright forms that more conventionally sequenced text faces often lack. Strong edges and corners sit alongside round strokes, giving it a distinctive tension at text sizes. The family spans two weights with italics, and the name itself means 'tracking' in Icelandic. It received a Certificate of Excellence at TDC New York, an honourable mention in Typographica's Favourite Typefaces of 2013 and a Bronze at the Joseph Binder Award in 2014.
