Rektorat traces its origins to institutional hand-lettering made for a Swiss modernist building in 1933, rediscovered decades later and painstakingly redrawn in ink by Rudolf Barmettler with students. The digital family, reworked from 2014 with Anton Studer, runs across 14 cuts in seven weights from Hairline to Heavy, each available in a standard and a Re variant. The result is a historically grounded grotesque with a specific provenance that gives it more character than a generic revival.
Classification
Rektorat derives from 1933 institutional signage lettering, placing it firmly in the grotesque sans-serif tradition with its even stroke weights and upright structure characteristic of early modernist European letterforms.
