Artigo
Nova Type Foundry · Joana Correia · 2018

A contemporary old-style text serif by Joana Correia, originating from the MA Typeface Design programme at the University of Reading, with strong calligraphic italics and coverage across Latin, Cyrillic and Greek.
About
Rooted in the handwriting qualities of early roman types, Artigo is built for small text where personality matters. Six weights from Light to Extrabold each carry matching italics that grow progressively more expressive, with the display version leaning furthest toward the handwritten. The Greek extension won second prize at the Granshan Awards in 2011, and the family now covers an extensive range of Latin languages alongside Cyrillic.
Classification
Artigo draws directly from the humanist roman tradition, taking cues from the handwriting qualities of early renaissance typefaces. Its italics lean noticeably calligraphic, placing it firmly in the old-style category.
