Antenna specimen from Occupant Fonts

A 56-style industrial sans by Cyrus Highsmith, designed around the negative space formed inside and between letters rather than the conventional focus on stroke curves.

About

Designed by Cyrus Highsmith in 2006, Antenna slows his characteristic fast curves and redirects attention to the rhythm of white counter shapes, producing a typeface that reads as deliberate and composed. Seven weights run across four widths, from regular to compressed, each with matching italics, giving the family broad coverage for editorial, signage and identity work. Stylistic alternates for both upper and lower case characters extend its typographic range further.

Classification

Highsmith describes Antenna as an industrial sans serif, with design emphasis placed on the pattern of white counter shapes rather than on the curves of the letterforms themselves, distinguishing it from humanist or geometric grotesques.
