Gasket Unicase
Occupant Fonts · Cyrus Highsmith · 2016

A unicase display type by Cyrus Highsmith in which oversized lowercase letters are drawn to match capital height, eliminating ascenders and descenders entirely.
About
Designed by Cyrus Highsmith in 2016, Gasket Unicase solves the upper-versus-lower-case dilemma by making it irrelevant: lowercase forms are scaled up to sit alongside capitals without the usual vertical interruptions of ascenders or descenders. Six weights from Thin to Bold each carry an italic, giving reasonable range for a typeface with such a specific structural premise. The result suits display settings where an even, contained texture is more useful than conventional case contrast.
Classification
Gasket Unicase is a display typeface built on a unicase principle, with oversized lowercase forms scaled to match the capitals and no ascenders or descenders, placing it firmly in the display category with a structural quirk that resists standard serif or sans-serif classification.
