Jubilee specimen from Off Type

A 84-style family by Valerio Monopoli drawing on Gill Sans and British royal iconography, graduated across six subfamilies from sans to serif.

About

Designed by Valerio Monopoli with type design collaboration from Piero Beninato, Jubilee takes Gill Sans as a ghostly reference point and grafts onto it the visual codes of British royal ceremony. The six subfamilies — Silver through Platinum — progress along an axis of increasing serifness, echoing the Jubilees of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. Deliberately uneven proportions and an extended glyph set including royal crests and gem-like punctuation give it a hand-crafted quality that separates it from more clinical humanist designs.

Classification

Jubilee spans sans to serif across its six subfamilies, but its conceptual lineage from Gill Sans places it in the humanist sans tradition; the graduated 'serifness' across subfamilies makes strict categorisation difficult, though the sans end of the spectrum anchors it here.
