Rayuela specimen from Off Type

A condensed stencil display face by Valerio Monopoli with a built-in stacking system that lets characters be layered in pairs using contextual OpenType logic.

About

Named after Julio Cortázar's novel and inspired by the children's game of hopscotch, the typeface uses a rhythmic semi-gothic structure in which uppercase and lowercase characters can stack vertically through OpenType contextual alternates. A single weight ships with 525 glyphs covering Latin Extended A, alongside features including old-style figures, single-storey alternates and fractions. Suited to posters, packaging and any display context where stacked or layered lettering is the primary effect.

Classification

A tall, condensed stencil-like display face with semi-gothic characteristics and a structural stacking system; purpose-built for large-scale display rather than text use.
