Covik Sans
OH no Type · James Edmondson

A humanist sans originating as a TypeMedia graduation project, refined through a custom commission for a restaurant tasting menu before being developed into a text-ready family with a companion monospaced variant.
About
Covik Sans grew from a TypeMedia graduation project, stripped of serifs and expanded for practical use after a bespoke commission for a fine-dining test kitchen. The proportional family runs in five weights with italics, each terminal deliberately flattened to produce a subtle sparkle in running text. Covik Sans Mono extends the family with a quantized three-width system that softens the rhythmic disruption of conventional monospacing, switchable between faux and true mono via OpenType.
Classification
A proportional grotesque with brushy, humanist terminals informed by its serif origins, alongside a monospaced variant with quantized character widths. The forms lean humanist rather than geometric, with deliberate terminal treatment for text legibility.
