A glyphic serif by James Edmondson begun in a 90-minute garage session in 2022, drawing from Art Nouveau, incised and classical lettering traditions across seven weights.
About
James Edmondson sketched the original uppercase in a single 90-minute sitting in Oakland in June 2022, and the family has since grown to 14 styles spanning Thin to Super with matching italics and two variable fonts. The design sits somewhere between glyphic, incised and classical traditions, with an extensive set of alternates referencing Art Nouveau, Lombardic forms and historic models including Marlowe-style R variants and high-waisted Fs. It has appeared in branding, editorial and poster work, including a school identity by Wonderhood Studios and a Hinge campaign.
Classification
The foundry describes it as potentially glyphic or incised with classical references; the design draws from Art Nouveau letterforms and historic sources, placing it in a glyphic or lapidary serif tradition with distinctive historical personality.
