The world's biggest index of the world's best typefaces

displayfatfaceitalic
Ohno Blazeface specimen from OH no Type

A nine-optical-size fatface serif that pushes the genre by minimising internal whitespace and finding unconventional solutions for letters that typically defeat the style.

About

Where most fatfaces leave awkward voids in letters like f, x and z, Blazeface takes an unorthodox approach to each, filling positive space as aggressively as possible. Nine optical sizes run from 12pt through to 72pt, each available in Roman and Italic, with the italic adding teardrop-terminated hairlines that give words a pronounced roundness. A full set of ornaments, arrows, fractions and snowflakes accompanies the 18 styles.

Classification

A fatface display serif with extreme stroke contrast, sitting firmly in the display/fatface tradition but deliberately redrawn to minimise internal whitespace and push problematic letterforms into unconventional solutions.
