Truculenta Original specimen from Omnibus-Type

An irregular mid-century grotesque with a deliberately quirky character, extended with a ragged Dirty variant and 40 onomatopoeias.

About

Designed by Iván Castro with the Omnibus-Type team, this grotesque draws on mid-century hand lettering to produce a warmth and irregularity absent from most neo-grotesque families. Three weights from Thin to Bold are joined by a Dirty variant that introduces a ragged, worn quality, and each weight includes two sets of tabular figures, 135 ligatures and 40 onomatopoeias. The Dirty variant adds 40 original pictograms drawn by Eva Sanz, making it well suited to packaging, book covers and film titles.

Classification

Described explicitly as a quirky grotesque rooted in mid-century lettering, with irregular rhythms that set it apart from cold neo-grotesque designs.
