EB Garamond
Open Foundry · Georg Duffner

An open source revival of Claude Garamont's 16th century roman, drawn by Georg Duffner from the 1592 Egenolff-Berner specimen.
About
Georg Duffner's revival takes the 1592 Berner specimen as its primary source, pairing Garamont's roman with Granjon's italic across five weights from Regular to Extrabold. The project name, Egenolff Berner Garamond, acknowledges the specimen's publishers, and the design follows the original letterforms closely rather than interpolating from later interpretations. Available under the SIL Open Font Licence, it is a workable free-to-use option for long-form text where a classical Garamond flavour is wanted.
Classification
An open source revival of Claude Garamont's mid 16th century humanist typeface, based on the Egenolff-Berner specimen of 1592. Humanist serif classification reflects the Renaissance origins and calligraphic quality of the source material.
