Junicode
Open Foundry · Peter Baker

A specialist serif with over 3,000 characters, built to cover the Medieval Unicode Font Initiative's Latin, Runic and Gothic ranges for scholars of medieval texts.
About
Designed by Peter Baker, Junicode addresses the needs of medievalists requiring broad Unicode coverage across Latin, Runic and Gothic scripts. The family is modest in structure — Regular and Bold, each with an italic — but its character set of over 3,000 glyphs sets it apart from general-purpose serifs. Released under the SIL Open Font License, it is freely available and broadly applicable wherever historical script coverage or period flavour is required.
Classification
Classified as serif by the foundry; designed for medieval scholarly texts with broad Unicode coverage including Latin, Runic and Gothic ranges, placing it in the humanist serif tradition suited to historical and literary work.
