Libre Baskerville
Open Foundry · Pablo Impallari, Rodrigo Fuenzalida

A web-optimised revival of the 1941 ATF Baskerville, redrawn with a taller x-height and wider counters for screen legibility at body sizes.
About
Designed by Pablo Impallari and Rodrigo Fuenzalida, the family departs from its ATF source by increasing the x-height, opening the counters and reducing stroke contrast, all in service of on-screen readability at around 16px. Three styles are available under the SIL Open Font Licence: Regular, Italic and Bold. A dependable free option for body text on the web where a classical serif flavour is required without the rendering issues of period originals.
Classification
Based on the American Type Founders' Baskerville of 1941, a canonical transitional serif; modifications to x-height, counters and contrast are screen-oriented adaptations rather than stylistic departures from the underlying classification.
