Nimbus Sans L
Open Foundry · URW Type Foundry · 1987

A 1987 GPL-licensed grotesque derived from Helvetica sources, with near-identical metrics to both Helvetica and Arial.
About
Released in 1987 by URW Type Foundry, Nimbus Sans L was produced from Adobe sources as a metrically compatible alternative to Helvetica and Arial. A subset was later released under the GNU General Public License v3.0, making it one of the earlier open-source grotesque options available. The family covers four styles: Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic.
Classification
A grotesque sans-serif derived from Helvetica sources, with metrics closely matching both Helvetica and Arial, placing it firmly in the neo-grotesque tradition.
