An open-source neo-grotesque based on URW Nimbus Sans, intended as a free-licensed substitute for Helvetica.

About

Built atop URW Nimbus Sans L, itself a close derivative of Helvetica, this family offers eight styles spanning regular and bold weights in upright, italic and condensed cuts. Vietnamese support was contributed by Han The Thanh, broadening its language coverage beyond standard Latin. Released under the GUST Font Licence, it functions as a practical open-source stand-in where Helvetica metrics or aesthetics are needed.

Classification

Based on URW Nimbus Sans, itself derived from Helvetica, placing it firmly in the neo-grotesque tradition of rational, closed-aperture sans-serifs.
