Media77 specimen from Optimo

A revival of Team'77's 1974 phototypesetting text serif, redrawn by Christian Mengelt and Erich Gschwind for contemporary use.

About

A text serif by Team'77, originally drawn in 1974 for Bobst Graphic in Lausanne, specifically for phototypesetting technology. Where competing designers fought the technical limits of photo composition, Team'77 used them as a starting point for a typeface free of historical classification. Decades later, Christian Mengelt and Erich Gschwind redrew Media for digital use, keeping its sophistication and easy legibility at small sizes while preserving the refined details that read at display. Four weights with italics and a Condensed cut.

Classification

Optimo describes Media77 as a digital revival of Media, a text typeface created by Team'77 in 1974 specifically for phototypesetting technology, redrawn by original members Christian Mengelt and Erich Gschwind.
