Programme
Optimo · Maximage · 2009

A calligraphic-programmatic sans by Maximage, generated by script from the letters o and n, with text, Pan and Primitiv variants.
About
A sans-serif by Maximage developed with scripting technology, based on the idea that a typeface's DNA is contained in the calligraphic letters o and n. From those two glyphs, a computer programme builds the full Latin alphabet, since type ultimately reuses a limited set of shapes. Optimised for both text and display, Programme runs across five weights with italics, plus Pan companions and a Primitiv cut. First version featured in JRP Ringier's 2009 book Typeface as Program.
Classification
Optimo describes Programme as a typeface based on both calligraphy and computer programming, developed with scripting technology, where the full Latin alphabet is generated from the calligraphic letters o and n.
