SuperScotch
Optimo · François Rappo

François Rappo's Scotch-face from the alignment of mountaineering literature and type design, with text and display cuts drawn without interpolation.
About
A Scotch-face serif by François Rappo, drawn from his interest in both mountaineering and type design. Starting from The Playground of Europe, an early classic of mountaineering literature that brought together the Alps, British explorers and a Scotch-face, Rappo set out to remake the genre with new curves and structural tensions. Sat halfway between modern and transitional, the family carries a Victorian sensibility into a versatile contemporary system, with each weight drawn individually for true optical balance. Text and Display cuts run from Thin through Extra with italics.
Classification
Optimo describes SuperScotch as a Scotch-face sat halfway between modern and transitional, drawn without interpolation across each weight, inspired by mountaineering literature and Victorian-era Alpine typography.
