A bracketed slab-serif revived from Miller & Richard's Ionic No. 3 by Emily Klaebe, adapted from 1926 printed specimens for contemporary typesetting.
About
Drawing on 12-point printed specimens from Miller & Richard's 1926 type catalogue as the primary source, the design preserves the wide proportions, large x-height, and gently curved bracketed serifs that made the Ionic style a newspaper standard. Subtle details from the printing process, including slightly sloped serif endings and inktraps in the joins, were treated as intentional and carried through the revival. Five weights from Thin to Bold are available individually or as a family package.
Classification
A bracketed slab-serif explicitly revived from Ionic No. 3 by Miller & Richard, a style developed for newspaper legibility. The Ionic subtype is characterised by its large x-height, wide proportions, and sturdy bracketed serifs.
