Parry
Original Type · Artur Schmal

A contemporary slab serif by Artur Schmal that softens Victorian slab traditions into a rounder, more approachable form across eight weights.
About
Designed by Artur Schmal, Parry takes the sturdy slab serifs of the Victorian era as its starting point but departs from their rigidity with rounder, softer letterforms. Sixteen styles span eight weights from UltraThin to ExtraBlack, each with a matching italic, giving the family considerable range. The foundry positions it across corporate identity, book typography, magazines and large-format advertising.
Classification
Parry is explicitly rooted in Victorian slab serif tradition, featuring bracketed or geometric serifs and a wide weight range. Its softer, rounder forms distinguish it from rigid nineteenth-century models while remaining squarely within the slab serif genre.
