Blueberry specimen from OTT Foundry

A comic book lettering typeface by Eliott Grunewald, named in tribute to the classic Franco-Belgian western saga by Giraud and Charlier.

About

Designed by Eliott Grunewald and developed by OTT, Blueberry draws on the hand-lettered traditions of European comics, specifically the mechanical lettering style that became standardised in the bande dessinée tradition. Its rounded, open letterforms are suited to editorial projects, children's publishing and branding that calls for a friendly, informal register. The extensive Latin Extended character set covers a broad range of European languages.

Classification

Blueberry imitates comic book hand-lettering, with rounded, whimsical letterforms evolving toward the mechanical lettering conventions seen in Franco-Belgian comics. It is best classified as a display typeface in the comic/hand-lettered subcategory.
